Owner: Ral Christman Sr.
Ral Christman Sr is a Federally Recognized Enrolled member of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay. Ral Sr. is the youngest son of Dr. Ron Christman from the Iipai Nation of Santa Ysabel and Virginia Christman of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay. Ral Sr. is married and the father of five children. Raised on the Viejas Reservation, Ral Sr. is a life long Bird Singer, speaker of the Kumeyaay language, Peon Player, and Tribal Orator. Ral Sr. has degrees from Cuyamaca College, San Diego State University, and a Masters in Education from Point Loma Nazarene University. Ral has spent twenty years working in education, including 15 years as a public school teacher. Ral Sr. is an adjunct professor at Cuyamaca College, has taught at SDSU, and served as stint as Director of Kumeyaay Community College. Ral has facilitated and taught various cultural and educational programs for all demographics. Recently Ral Sr. has worked in the field of Cultural Resource Management: protecting sacred Archeology and sites.
Director: Vanessa Christman
Vanessa is a Federally recognized enrolled member of the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel. Vanessa is an elected Member of the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel Tribal Council; and serves as liaison for education, youth and elders programs. Vanessa comes from a long lineage of Traditional Cooks who provide food services for their community's ceremonies and social functions. Vanessa has a Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Cuyamaca College. Vanessa has worked in Public Indian Education at various levels including: Native American Advisory Board Member, School Site Council, PTA, and is currently employed by the Warners Unified School District as the Native American Student Advisor. Certified in youth mental health, Vanessa has worked with Native youth for more than two decades facilitating, teaching, and mentoring. Vanessa is a mother of five, and has dedicated herself to helping the youth.
